なかなか面白かったエントリ。
The Firefox 3 Visual Refresh: System Integration
毎日 Linux(50%), Mac(49%), Windows(1%) くらいの割合で、全てのプラットフォームで Firefox 2 を
使っている身としては、どの環境でも見慣れたインターフェースというのはまぁ悪くない (Firefox の
メリットのひとつ) と思っていた。
といいつつ、Firefox 2 のデフォルトの theme はどうも味気ないので Mac (Safari) 風の
theme を全てのプラットフォームで使っている。まぁ、theme をいれかえただけの
まがいもの的感じはやはりいなめない。
で、上記エントリにある、
For instance RealPlayer uses a custom appearance across operating systems, as do applications
built using Java's Swing windowing toolkit. Personally I think a unified cross platform UI results in
applications that at best feel foreign everywhere, and at worst don't even feel like real applications.
というのが、「おっしゃるとおり(苦笑)」だなぁと。Windows の iTunes/Safari とかの居心地の悪さとか、
Mac でも Windows でも浮いた感の否めない Real Player とかを使うたびにどこかで感じていたを
再認識する。
それぞれのウインドウシステムに特化して、というのは、 たしかに試してみる価値あり、かもしれず。
Firefox 3 楽しみ。
